The Iroquois Tribe

    Have you ever wondered how the Iroquois lived? The Iroquois were a Native American tribe in North America. The Iroquois was an amazing and very interesting tribe. You can learn about the Iroquois by studying about the geography of where they lived, how they met their basic needs, and their beliefs.

    The Iroquois lived in what is now New York in the Northeast of the united states. The land the Iroquois lived on was mostly covered in evergreen forests and a bit of grassland. The Iroquois lived near Lake Ontario, Lake Erie, and the St. Lawrence River.

The Iroquois had longhouses to live here are some facts. The Iroquois Built longhouses to live in; longhouses are rectangular houses made of wood.Five families in one longhouse.

The Iroquois ate lots of food such as fish, rabbits, moose, corn, squash, beans, and berries.

For clothing, Iroquois men wore deerskin shirts, leggings, breechcloth, and moccasins. Women wore deerskin skirts, sleeveless dresses, and moccasins.

   The Iroquois like most indians they had some belief on how the earth was made here are the iroquois’s belief. The Iroquois believed in the sky woman. This Sky woman fell from the sky while picking berries on a cloud while their, The birds caught her placed mud on a turtle's back covered in mud she planted all the plants to create Earth. The Iroquois invented the game of lacrosse. The men went against other friendly tribes. Often people on the sideline made bets on who would win. Plans in lacrosse games helped in fighting war.

    In conclusion, the Iroquois is an amazing tribe they taught themselves to hunt for food and build a shelter to survive. The land in which they lived,basic needs,  and Their  beliefs and culture made them a very strong tribe. I hope the Iroquois will continue to last for a long time.
